This picture post is out of order, but I figure it better to get it up in a timely manner and share the girls’ first day of preschool when it happened. Otherwise it might be November before you see the pictures. 😛
Mallory’s and Chelsea’s first day of preschool was today. The day was rainy and overcast due to the remnants of tropical storm Hermine passing through. After taking a picture out front, we headed to school (even arriving a couple minutes early — shocker!).
[To compare (because it’s oh so nice to compare siblings, not.), here is Mallory two years ago in almost the same outfit as Chelsea, on her very first day of preschool. Wow, she looks so little!]
Once at school, Mallory immediately saw a couple of her friends, then asked if she could go talk to them. She quickly headed into class and I never saw her again (no goodbyes from her but she has been that way with school from day one). Chelsea, on the other hand, was less than enthusiastic. She once tried to escape her class to go into Mallory’s class. I directed her back into her class (which consists of ten 2 year old). After a quick kiss and a hug, I left her and she timidly joined the other kids (without crying or complaining).
In the afternoon when I went to go and pick them up, I peeked in and saw Chelsea waiting for me. She looked fine, but then once she saw me she burst into tears. According to the teachers, most of the two year olds had a great day until they woke up from their nap. They said there were a lot of tears at that point from the little ones. To contrast that, Mallory bounded out of her class, excited as ever to be back in school and with her friends.
Both girls will attend preschool Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 – 2:30 and then Mallory will also go Wednesdays from 9:00 – 12:00.
And in related news, Lucia finished Chelsea’s preschool naptime quilt just in time for the start of preschool — completing it yesterday and pulling it out the dryer this morning. Whew!
