Week 20 (May 14 – 20)

[bento-to-go] Finished!

20.1: Quilting Week
With Mallory and Jonathan gone, this past week for Lucia has been a productive week filled with quilting. She created this little doll quilt using a new-to-her quilting method and finished another little doll quilt. And then she started on another quilt…

[scrappy strings] FINALLY finished!

20.2: Little Helper
Chelsea has really liked being on her own this past week. We thought she might miss Mallory while they were separated, but she seemed to enjoy being the one in charge of playtime.  She also liked helping mommy with her quilts. Lucia finally finished this quilt (just had the binding left to do), coincidentally a year to the day after she started it.

52 Weeks :: Week 20

20.3: Tessa at 12 weeks
A mother’s recap: Tessa is 12 weeks old and no longer in that brand-new-baby newborn infant stage. She’s a regular ol’ baby now.  She is sweet as can be. She gets the nicest little smile on her face and twinkle in her eye when you talk sweetly to her. When she eats, she often softly grunts, almost like she is saying, “yum, yum, yum…”. She sticks her tongue out a lot. She kicks her blankets off from the constant fidgeting she does when she is awake. She still sleeps the majority of the day. She consistently takes a good long morning nap. Her afternoon sleeping is not as consistent only because our schedule varies.  Her nighttime sleep is inconsistent but she is starting to have longer sleep cycles at night and occasionally will sleep until 3am – 4am. She then eats and goes right back to sleep. She sleeps in between J and me in bed (I’d like to transition her to the bassinet — and thought I would have by now, but I’ve just been lazy and TIRED!). She seems to prefer to sleep on her side and wiggles her way into that position if I don’t place her like that.   If you hold her upright and try to make her stand her on your lap, she won’t put a lot of pressure on her legs. She’d prefer to wear a couple of outfits a day and tries her hardest to make that happen via blow-outs and spitting-up. She’s usually successful in at least one very messy event daily. She finally doesn’t dislike bathtime. I might even say she kinda likes it.

So, this is where I said I might stop taking Tessa’s weekly photos… I’m undecided if I will continue with the weekly photos and recap. Maybe monthly instead? We’ll see.

52 Weeks :: Week 20

20.3: Sideways Cheese
Chelsea was watching TV and Lucia tried to take a picture of her without her noticing. But, Chelsea noticed and this face was her “cheesing” for the camera without it interrupting her TV watching.

20.4: Getting Hot
(Mallory and Daddy are back home now.) We noticed how hot it is getting at this week’s playdate and picnic at the park. The girls were sweating and complaining about how hot they were. Guess we need to do breakfast playdates if we want to avoid the heat and still get in some playtime.

20.7: Last Day of School
Today was Mallory’s last day of school for the year. She had a half day plus the end-of-year program was in the evening. The program involved the children singing songs on stage and then they were presented with a special personalized album with pictures from the year. The children were given general awards for their accomplishments and each child received individual awards based on their personality. Mallory’s award was “friendliest girl.”

S’s mom K helped us out so much today by picking Mallory up from school and keeping her the entire afternoon so Jonathan and Lucia would be at Cook Children’s in downtown Fort Worth with Chelsea for her surgery. With all of that going on, we barely remembered to get a picture of Mallory on her last day of school, which has become tradition. The picture of her outside was after her program as the sun was setting and was shot at ISO 3200, which is why it is so grainy.

To compare…

  1. Hi!
    Congratulations on the new baby! I’ve been wondering if she has any eczema? What did you differently with her? Does she handle dairy or did you eliminate it from your diet?

    I am wondering because my baby has eczema, and I’d love to know what’s helping your new bundle of joy be eczema free…

    Thanks and I have to add BEAUTIFUL photography!
