Week 19 (May 7 – 13)

52 Weeks :: Week 19

19.1: Playdate
Mallory had L over for a playdate today and the girls were busy busy playing kitchen and dress-up. Then lunch, a visit to the park and popsicles afterward to cool down. Mallory did not understand that she should cater to what L wanted to do, since she was her “guest.” She argued later, with L, that she wanted to be the “guest.” Despite the guest argument, the girls had a good time.

52 Weeks :: Week 19

19.1: Paperoni
Mallory got this Paperoni craft kit for her birthday and has been begging to do it. She did ok with putting the pieces in the right place, but her attention span did not last for her to complete the project. She wanted Mommy to finish it instead. (Nice dirty fingernails, huh? That is courtesy of a hard day of playing with L).

52 Weeks :: Week 19

19.2: Off to Grandma’s (and Grandpa’s) House [They] Go…
Jonathan is attending a bachelor party in Destin (and initially had some work to do in Birmingham, but those plans fell through), so he flew with Mallory into Birmingham to meet up with Grandma. They will spend a couple of days with Jeff in Huntsville then drive down to Niceville to spend the rest of the eight-day-visit there. (Jonathan doesn’t have a camera for the visit, so no pictures from Alabama or Florida this week).

52 Weeks :: Week 19 [11 weeks old]

19.3: Tessa at  11 weeks
We are getting more and more smiles from our sweet baby girl (they are just hard to capture in a photo). Her eyes light up and she can get quite a smirk on her little face. She especially loves smiling for strangers (new voices and faces are more appealing than what she sees and hears every day?). She likes playing with her tongue and sticks it in and out quite a bit. She sleeps a lot and has once or twice slept through the night (not a regular occurrence; she normally wakes at least once, often twice).

19.3: Now Tolerating
Tessa does not cry during bath time anymore. Perhaps she even likes taking them? And look at those chunky monkey legs!

52 Weeks :: Week 19

19.3: Trial
We have always just suspected that Chelsea (with the crazy hair) is allergic to dairy and not had her officially tested. She has only had one minor reaction after having cow’s milk and that was about a year and a half ago. Nevertheless, we have kept her on a dairy-free diet, along with Mallory, to make it easier for everyone. Since Mallory was gone for the week, Lucia decided to have CP try some food with dairy in it. First up, Spaghetti-Os (fancy!) for lunch.  Dairy/cheese is not a primary ingredient in the Os, so Lucia felt it was a safer first taste. Chelsea loved the Os and ate them up. She showed no signs of having a reaction to the small amount of dairy in the Os — victory! For dinner, Lucia offered another delectable, Macaroni and Cheese, but this time a food with a higher concentration of dairy. Chelsea thought it smelled nummy and ate a few bites. She then said she did not want anymore. It was not long after that, that Chelsea had welts and minor swelling around her mouth and on her face. She also had hives on her knees (she must have touched her knees after touching the mac and cheese). The night ended with a very agitated unhappy itchy swollen-eyed Chelsea who was given Benedryl to combat the reaction. Darn! (Allergic reactions tend to get worse with each contact/ingestion. At this point, she is not as allergic as Mallory, but that may be because she has had fewer contact/ingestion incidents.)

[Baby Munki iSpy] Finished!

19.4: Blanket for Mal
Since Mallory was gone this week, Lucia spent some time finishing up a little quilt “blanket” for her. It is one she has been asking for after having seen the one Lucia made for Mallory’s cousin, H.

More on the quilt here.
