Week 18 (Apr. 30 – May 6)

52 Weeks :: Week 18

18.1: Well Check
Mallory had her four-year-old well check and did great. She is right below 50th percentile in both height and weight which is her norm. She had no idea she would be getting three shots at the appointment and cried a bit after she got them. She is now done with immunizations until age 11, thank goodness!

18.2: Mayfest
The seven of us headed down to Fort Worth to check out Mayfest along the Trinity River. The weather was nice and there were a lot of kid activities, like the ferris wheel that Mallory got to ride on (Chelsea watched from the ground because she unsure about the ride). Aside from not bringing a stroller (which meant we had to take turns toting around Tessa in her carrier and our diaper bag) we had a good time and were worn out by the time we left.

18.3: Grillin’ Out
Grandma and Grandpa came for a weekend visit and we had a good time with them. We had a yummy Saturday night dinner and ate outside on our back patio while listening to some live music that a neighbor had playing a few houses down.

18.3: Grand Picture
We wanted to make sure we got a picture of the girls with Grandma and Grandpa… and somehow we forgot to include the littlest granddaughter in the shot (Tessa was being a good girl inside napping in her carrier). Oops!!

52 Weeks :: Week 18

18.3: Tessa at 10 weeks
Funny how with your first child, they seem to stay small for so long. I remember when Mallory was in her age-as-weeks stage, I still felt like she was brand new (meaning, we’d says she’s “8 weeks old” instead of saying “2 months old”). With Tessa, I can’t keep track of the weeks anymore and have already reverted to listing her age by months (with Mallory I always new exactly how old she was long past 12 weeks). It feels like Tessa has been with us always and is already “so big.”

With Mallory, I limited some of what I did due to the fact of having a newborn. Maybe I didn’t go out and do as many things or just stayed in because it was easier to sit and cuddle with her. With Tessa, we really haven’t limited what we do just because we have a newborn. Life keeps going and we are trying to keep up with it, so she gets toted around with us, like it or not. Because of this hurried pace, it seems that Tessa’s newborn stage is quickly leaving us. We are so busy that if we don’t pay attention she will be a toddler before we know it. We better slow down a little and pay attention so we do not miss this time in her life. It is a good thing I am taking a lot of pictures!

18.4: New Week, New Park
We had another park and picnic playdate and this time headed to another new-to-us park in Keller with some fun different play elements, like this digging toy. We had another good time except that there was a bulldozer / big noisy truck in the parking lot nearby and Chelsea was afraid of it.

18.6: Pizza Experiment
Jonathan found a frozen pizza (Ian’s brand) that is dairy and egg free, so he got it, thinking the girls might like it. The girls were excited to try pizza, since it is Daddy’s favorite. They ate a few bites and seemed to like it, but then they didn’t want anymore which was surprising since it tasted ok despite the non-dairy cheese.
