Week 17 (Apr. 23 – 29)

52 Weeks :: Week 17

17.1: Penny in the Fountain
We went to Art in the Square, the Southlake Art Festival, and the girls got to throw a penny in the fountain while we were there.  We walked around looking at all of the pretty artwork, had some kettle corn and listened (and danced) to the music. We ended up having to cut our night short because it was overwhelming for Tessa and she was not happy at all.

17.2: Saturday Sew
Jonathan agreed to watch the girls for several hours so Lucia could go to the Saturday Sew with the Dallas Modern Quilt Guild. Lucia had to haul her supplies and gear to the event location but it was worth it to be able to sew uninterrupted for a good part of the day. The girls behaved for Jonathan… the only hiccup being that Tessa had a hard time taking a bottle (both breastmilk and formula varieties). Luckily she took enough to tide her over until Lucia got back.

17.3: Tessa at 9 weeks

  • we are getting more and more smiles out of her
  • she is starting to play with her tongue and likes to stick it out and chew on it
  • she is still waking a couple of times a night
  • J tried giving her bottle of breastmilk and she initially had no interest. She finally decided it was ok to have a little, an hour and a half into the feeding.

17.4: Picnic, Play, Park
We met our new playdate friends, the S and D families, for a picnic and playtime at the park. We went to another great new-to-us-park in NRH and it had a several tire swings that the girls loved. With this group, there is girl overload — the S family has three little girls, very close in age to our girls, and the D family has one girl (+ another girl neighbor friend that sometimes joins us). The one little boy in the bunch is outnumbered by the seven to eight girls!

Modern Meadow Stash -- Giveaway Loot!

17.4: Lucky Duck Bird
Lucia entered a giveaway on fabric designer Joel Dewberry‘s blog and WON! She got ten fat quarters from Joel’s new collection, Modern Meadow in the Sunny Day colorway, plus this sweet little bird made out of Modern Meadow. Such pretty fabric! I see a quilt in these fabrics’ future.

17.4: Pottty Time
Chelsea is going about potty training a little backwards. She is very interested in pooping on the potty and will do it at least once a day. She kind of sees it as a challenge. Even if she doesn’t really need to poop, she tries her hardest to make it happen. (kids normally start with #1’ing on the potty then later try to do #2). We thought she was ready to transition into training pants, but she doesn’t get the tinkle in the potty part yet (we tried training pants and after many accidents, we switched back to diapers). She doesn’t keep a dry diaper and likes to take them off and hand them to us when she wants a new one or when she wants to try to go on the potty (which is a little late, since she already filled up her diaper).

Mallory already has a potty shot posted, so I figured it is only fair that CP has one too. :p

17.7: Basting
Lucia received a baby shower invite this week and started a quick little baby quilt to give as a gift. She also figured out a good place to baste quilts is in the master bedroom bathroom in front of the sinks where there is a large hard even surface and good light.
