Our sweet little (“BIG!”) girl got hurt today. She climbed out of her crib and fell on her arm. She cried and I wasn’t sure how badly she hurt herself but after an hour or so of her being miserable, I decided that she needed to get it looked at. Luckily Jonathan is in town so he came home from work to take her to the pediatric urgent care center so I could stay home with Tessa and Mallory. They did x-rays and determined that she broke her arm/elbow. She also chipped the bone so she has to have surgery tomorrow to put a pin in to hold the bones together so it doesn’t effect her growth plate (for our doctor friends, the official diagnosis was displaced fracture of the left radial head and left olecranon fracture). Poor girl. 😦 We feel so very bad for her.
Jonathan is going to take her in for surgery tomorrow morning, then Tessa and I will meet up with them after dropping Mallory off at school. From what I can gather from internet research, it sounds like she will have a cast for three to five weeks, then the pin gets removed and then she will have to start doing range of motion exercises.
We will keep you posted on the outcome of her surgery. Please keep this sweet baby girl in your thoughts and prayers. 😦
