Week 13 (Mar. 26 – Apr. 1)

52 Weeks :: Week 13

52 Weeks :: Week 13

13.2: Tessa at 5 Weeks

  • Baby acne has morphed into what looks like eczema. And it gets worse every day.  So far, it is contained mostly to her head: all over her face, in/around/behind her ears, a little on her hairline and into her scalp, and a little on her neck (front and back). The skin on her chest is starting to change and is not as soft as it once was. When you look at it up close, it’s not pretty.
  • she is getting chubby… her cheeks are filling out and her 0-3 months clothes are fitting better.
  • she is a little congested (we couldn’t keep her sisters’ germs away from her, despite the fact that we tried to limit them touching/holding her)
  • she’ll take a pacifier from Jonathan but is not so willing to take one for Lucia
  • sometimes when  she cries, her chin quivers. Even Chelsea has noticed this and tries to copy her.
  • sleeping/eating/awake time/spitting up/blow-outs are about the same as they have been

52 Weeks :: Week 13 [Bee Blocks]

13.2: Squares in a Square
Lucia is participating in a virtual quilting bee (The Fussy Cut Bee) and made these two blocks (squares in a square pattern) for the March bee-er. Lucia’s month for the bee is not until next January so she has some time before she has to decide on fabrics and a pattern.

A description of what a virtual quilting bee is can be found in the first paragraph of this blog post; and “fussy cut” is defined here.

52 Weeks :: Week 13

13.3: Lucky
Mallory was goofing off on the couch (jumping and sliding on the cushions) – after being told not to (what a surprise!) – when she fell and hit her head/face on the coffee table. She was very lucky that she didn’t injure her eye because she made contact with the table above her eye brow, above her eye lid and then right below her eye. She ended up with a black eye with the bruise above her eye, mostly in the crease of her eye lid.  (The scratches on the bridge of her nose are unrelated to this incident). The fall scared her enough to stop her from jumping on the couch… for less than a day.

She thought it was funny to take a picture with her eyes closed, thus her smirk.

52 Weeks :: Week 13

13.3: Not Any Better
We’ve moved onto the infant bath tub for Tessa’s baths and she is still not liking it.

52 Weeks :: Week 13

13.6: Opposite of Cleaning
Chelsea had a good time making a mess — taking sand from the sandbox and sticking it to the window and eventually filling the window sill with it.

13.6: Not Something We Condone
Mallory was sitting at the kitchen table playing with some cards. Chelsea wanted to see what she was doing and get in on the action. She figured out the best way to do that was get on the table. That Chelsea is a problem solver.

52 Weeks :: Week 13

13.7: In the Groove
After working on the quilt blocks for the quilting bee, Lucia was in the mood to finish a little doll quilt she started last summer – her first finished quilt of 2010. The girls cooperated all at the same time (M & C playing nicely together in the playroom and T napping) which let Lucia focus on basting, quilting and binding the quilt in the afternoon. The quilt is for H’s birthday next week.
More on the quilt here.

  1. Aw, poor baby, my daughter did not like the baby tub either. The sling thing that they sit in just lets the air go right around them, lol. After the tub was filled I used to have to line her tub with a towel and then cover her with a baby towel and just expose one body part at a time to wash her. A lot of wet towels, lol, but I guess she just liked to still feel covered and secure. I found your site through your Munki stash pics over on Flickr, your girls are adorable! =)

  2. My newborn’s face looks similar to your little one’s. I looked at some of your more recent posts and her face seems much better. I was wondering what you were using on her face to get it to heal. Thank you so much!
