Week 11 (Mar. 12 – 18)

52 Weeks :: Week 11 [3 weeks old]

11.1: 3 Weeks Old

  • Tessa is now officially a “Wilke Baby.” She can be fussy (usually during the colic-y hours right before dinner and as we are going to bed), projectile vomits almost daily and generally has one blow-out a day. To give her a little credit, she does not do these things as severely or drastically as her sisters did, but she’s no longer our perfect baby, a nickname she truly earned in her first two weeks. 😉
  • She has mastered the worried look (seen above) which is probably a result of her n0t-so-quiet sisters around her. Still, she usually manages to sleep through their noise and doesn’t seem to mind the many hugs and kisses they give her, even if M and C aren’t always as gentle as they could be.
  • Tessa will nap in the swing or bouncy seat if she’s in the mood.
  • She also doesn’t seem to mind the baby bjorn carrier the couple of times we’ve tried it.
  • The pacifier can help settle her down and get her to sleep.
  • She’s outgrowing the few newborn clothes she has. Some 0-3 clothes fit but most are a little big on her. She’s still in newborn diapers but as soon as we’re done with this pack, we’ll move her up to size 1.

More Tessa Weekly photos here.

I didn’t really mean for this to be her weekly picture… I took a few pictures of her then quit when I realized she wasn’t in the mood. I intended to try again and take more, but that didn’t happen. So, this is it. It IS an accurate representation of a face she often makes, so it works for the purpose of recording her growth and capturing a snapshot in time. I also like the idea of using pictures that aren’t necessarily the cutest or most charming. Realistic is good too. 🙂

52 Weeks :: Week 11

11.2: Farmer and Fisherman
We added two new (free!) apps to Lucia’s iPhone that involve managing a farm and taking care of an aquarium. While initially downloaded for Mallory’s entertainment, looking after the crops and fish has become a family affair. During the day, Lucia helps Mallory buy/feed/love the fish and plow/plant the crops and then when Jonathan comes home, he helps her check to see if her fish need to be sold or her crops need to be harvested.

52 Weeks :: Week 11

11.3: A Day Out with… Daddy
Given Mallory’s – and now Chelsea’s – love of trains (specifically James, the red engine-friend of Thomas), Jonathan took the girls to A Day Out with Thomas in Grapevine. They got to ride in a passenger train car that was pulled by a life-sized Thomas train. And then the girls wore Jonathan out by exploring the rest of the train activities and entertainment.

52 Weeks :: Week 11

11.4: Holding Pattern
If Tessa is awake and Lucia is holding her when it is time to get Chelsea out of her crib or change her diaper, then Tessa gets to sit and wait in the glider in the nursery until Lucia’s hands are free again.

52 Weeks :: Week 11

11.4: Hockey Players
Mallory drew this picture of Daddy and her playing hockey (notice the hockey sticks and pucks). Mallory is in red and has a bow in her hair. Daddy is in blue. The red on top of his head is “bow-ff (both) his hairs.” (??) The bottom letters say, “M plus Mallory.”

52 Weeks :: Week 11

11.5: Colorful Mess
Mallory often asks to paint, so today the girls got their hands messy in some washable paint. Afterward, they got a bath.

11.6: Spider-Girl
We went to a playgroup at the house of one of Mallory’s classmates, Matthew. Matthew had a Spider-Man costume that Mallory was beyond thrilled to try on.

52 Weeks :: Week 11

11.6: Waiting on Daddy
Even though all four girls went to visit Daddy at his office today (St. Patrick’s Day), Mallory and Chelsea were still excited and anxious to have him come home. To see if he was getting close to home, we went outside to wait for him. Oh, and CP put on her shoes by “myself.”

  1. More pictures! I check almost everyday. The girls are so darn cute. I love the waiting for daddy picture. I remember those days. I was always just as excited (if not more) as the boys for Tom to get home. As he would say, “Shift change.”

  2. Congrats on the new baby, she is beautiful-just like the other two! I was glad to “see” you on Becky’s site. For some reason, I couldn’t find your blog when I looked last. Will make sure I add it as one I watch now. Lovely pictures from the past several weeks…I know you have been busy.
