Week 4 (Jan. 22 – 28)

52 Weeks :: Week 4

4.1 I’m We’re with Coco
The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien ended tonight after only 7 months of being on air. We watched Conan’s first night and now his last (and many in between) as the host of The Tonight Show. There was a bit of drama that surrounded “Coco” being pushed out of his show/time slot and NBC bringing Jay Leno back to late night (his prime time show was a flop). We don’t anticipate watching Jay when he comes back on and look forward to see to where Conan ends up in the fall.

52 Weeks :: Week 4, Day 3

4.3 Huge Progress!!!
Since last week’s ice skating lesson was a bust, Jonathan took Mallory to another free skate the day before her lesson to show her it wasn’t so scary. Mal did great skating with daddy, even letting go of his hand on her own, and skating (marching) by herself with a big smile on her face. We weren’t sure if that attitude would carry over to her lesson, but we hoped it would. After just a little bit of wall hugging and hand holding, she eventually realized it was fun and participated in the lesson with the rest of the “tots”. YAY!! She has great balance (hardly falls; didn’t at this lesson) and seems relatively athletic for a three year old, so we really thought she could have fun doing this. It only took 4 lessons and 2 free skates for her to figure that out.

I realize Mal’s helmet isn’t on right (it should be on the top of her head more), but I can never get the darn thing adjusted correctly. And Mal likes to push it back which doesn’t help things.

52 Weeks :: Week 4

4.4: New Kicks
Mallory’s new sneakers arrived in the mail today (and they fit! always a gamble to order a new-to-us brand online) and she really likes them. It is hard to find cute, practical girls play shoes that aren’t character-based, sparkly, every color of the rainbow and don’t look too athletic-y (other than Keds).

4.4: Cookie Monster
Chelsea could eat cookies/sweets morning, noon and night and often requests them that frequently.

52 Weeks :: Week 4, Day 4

4.4: ‘ack-warhds
We are still having to put Chelsea’s PJs on backwards most nights because this girl likes to take her clothes off. To give her credit, she also likes to put them on again (“IIIIIII dooo it!”) but it’s more of a game and portions stay off more than on when we are at home. And if put back on, they usually end up inside out or backwards or both since she insists on doing it “myself” without any help.

52 Weeks :: Week 4

4.4: Soooo Nummy
Blood oranges are currently in season and the girls love them (Lucia was first introduced to blood oranges when she studied abroad in Italy). At first Mallory said she didn’t like them (before even trying them), but after one juicy bite she decided they were so nummy.

52 Weeks :: Week 4

4.5: Escape Artist
Mallory went into Chelsea’s room first in the morning and came running back to Lucia to tell her that Chelsea was “up high” in her crib. Not really knowing what that meant, but having an idea, Lucia found CP like this. Chelsea was content just sitting there.

At nap time, Chelsea went down like normal, then a little while later Lucia heard her screaming/crying and Chelsea came running out of her room. She must have tried getting “up high” again but fell out of her crib this time. She wasn’t hurt, mostly just scared. Hopefully scared enough to keep her from doing it again. We aren’t ready for her to be out of her crib just yet!

52 Weeks :: Week 4, Day 7

4.7: T-4 weeks
Lucia is 36 weeks pregnant today (actually 36 weeks, 1 day). At her appointment, the doctor confirmed that everything looks good: baby is head down and currently measuring in the 6 pound range (and expected to be in the 7 pound range at birth), blood pressure is normal, and total pounds gained so far is a little less than 25 pounds. The only real *complaint* is heart burn that can be so bad it wakes her up in the middle of the night.

Ok, umm… I didn’t realize I am this big. Agh. Such a big difference from my last belly shot (granted, that was 10 weeks ago at 26 weeks). I generally wouldn’t make public a picture that’s less than flattering — hello ever-expanding butt and thighs! — but I want to document this pregnancy better than I did my last where I took maybe one belly shot (with my first pregnancy I took belly shots regularly and it was neat to watch how my body changed). The one consolation of this picture? At least the color is better/more accurate than my last attempt thanks to doing a custom white balance.

Oh, and sorry for another mirror shot. I seem to be the only adult around when the mood strikes to take a belly shot.

  1. …Thanks for visiting my blog! To answer your question. The corner rounder I use is from EK Success from Walmart. It’s a thumb punch and it’s so easy. The one I had prior was really hard on the hand and the wrist.

    Your pictures are great! Love the zoo photos!

  2. Hello! I love your pictures and your pages. I see you are due in just under 3 weeks, so this kit should be a great way for you to scrapbook this meaningful year in a less stressful way! Congratulations. Also, I really like how you added the number of the week on the large cards. I think I may have to do that too…they look kind of big and boring!
