Week 3 (Jan. 15 – 21)

52 Weeks :: Week 3

3.1: Burying Threads
Lucia made some progress today on a quilt that she needs to finish ASAP; it was supposed to be a Christmas gift. Because she quilted the quilt in a different way, there are what seem to be ten times the normal number of threads to be buried, so it is taking much longer than she’d like to do this step. After this, she just needs to make and add the binding to finish the quilt.

3.3: Circles
Chelsea surprised us today by drawing more than scribbles on the magna doodle. We first noticed that she drew what looked like a face (and when asked about it, she said it was dah-DEE) and then later she drew many circles. She’s off to a good start because she’s already holding the pen the correct way.

3.4: Outside Fun
A mom from Mallory’s school organized a get together today at a great new-to-us park in Southlake. We ate lunch there and the girls played on the playground. It was so nice for the girls to be able to play outside for a change.

3.4: Another New Roof
Our area had a hail storm last March. Since then, at least 90 percent of the homes in our neighborhood got a new roof. We were one of the few hold outs and didn’t get a new roof, despite the many roofers that came a knockin’ on our door practically begging to re-roof our house (our neighbors across the street didn’t get new roofs either). Our insurance company came out and inspected our roof and only found five hits per square (“square” = 10′ x 10′ area) when 10 is needed to total/damage out a roof.

3.5: Backyard Picnic & Playin’ Ball
Gran and Gramps sent us money to get the girls a little picnic table; we finally got it and set it up right away. The girls were eager to use it and, since the weather was nice, they ate lunch outside on the new table. The girls then got to run and play in the backyard for the first time in months. Looks like we have two ball players on our hands.

3.6: Box-o-fun
The girls entertained themselves this morning by coloring on and playing with a couple of cardboard boxes. No better toy than a cardboard box!

3.7: “sss-AIM, sssss-AIMMM!!
The Nickelodeon cartoon Go, Diego, Go! was on the TV while Chelsea played in the family room. The show really caught her attention when Diego focused on some frogs. CP then went and grabbed her stuffed frog and held it up to the TV screen and proclaimed that they were the “sssss-AIM!” (She says same in such a sweet way; it’s drawn out into two syllables and with an up and down pitch). Chelsea is really into noticing when things are the same (like the two frogs) or if they match (like a red spoon and a red cup) and is proud to point out her observations.
