Week 14 (Apr. 2 – 8)

This week was a busy one for us — Easter and Mallory’s 4th birthday. Those special occasions will each have their own post once the pictures are sorted through and edited. :)

52 Weeks :: Week 14 :: Day 1

14.1: Sleepover
Mallory is back to sleeping on the floor in Jonathan and Lucia’s room. Her reason? “I wanna to be close to [Daddy].” Her current set up includes her nap mat, green and pink blankets and a doll high chair stuffed with her “am-uhls” (animals). In the early morning hours she tries to sneak into the bed and at times is successful if J & L are fast asleep and can’t tell her no.

14.2: Tessa at 6 Weeks

  • with a daily application of Aquafor, Tessa’s skin started to get better a little at a time. It’s almost back to *normal* now! Hopefully this is the last of eczema/baby acne and she won’t follow in Chelsea’s skin footprints.
  • we must have missed her baby hair falling out because all of a sudden the hair on the top of her head is a bit shorter than the hair around the back of her head/neck so she has a slight ‘old man’ hair-do. Or maybe the back hair had a growth spurt?
  • we haven’t managed to get a true consistent smile out of her yet (despite Lucia’s many attempts) but we think Mrs. Angie probably could. She has a way of getting babies to smile.
  • she is starting to notice the birds that *fly* above her in her swing.

52 Weeks :: Week 14

14.2: Announcing
Lucia finally got around to designing Tessa’s birth announcements and uploaded the files to the printer Wednesday evening. We had the press printed (thicker paper) cards in our hands Saturday. Pretty amazing considering that this was not a rush job, standard USPS postage was paid, and the printer is Kansas (coincidentally located in Pittsburg, just 45 miles from Lucia’s mom’s small hometown). The back of the announcement is pictured with a silhouette of Tessa that Lucia digitally made (inspired by the recent silhouettes featured by Brooke at inchmark). The front of the card had a picture of Tessa that wasn’t intended for the announcement but was used because it was the best option since her skin had gotten so bad. Now to get all of the announcements sent out!

14.3: Trial Run
We made colorful pancakes this weekend as a trial run for Mallory’s birthday brunch. We modified the Bisquick recipe and didn’t add eggs, so they come out a little denser than normal, but they are still nummy.

14.5: Out
Tessa is starting to have a little bit of a sleep schedule. She often takes a good morning nap in the master bed which is nice because it lets Lucia tend to the other girls during the busy start-of-the-day time.

14.6: Gooey Goodness
Since Mallory doesn’t even like her kind of cupcakes, we decided to makes rice crispie treats to take to her school for her birthday.

14.7: Birthday at School
Mallory got to celebrate her birthday at school the day after her birthday. She carefully served each of her classmates the rice crispie treats we made. Two of the kids asked, “hey, why don’t you have cupcakes?” and several didn’t want any part of the rice crispie treats. Lucia told the kids that Mallory doesn’t like/can’t have cupcakes. Mallory remembered this and later told Jonathan when he got home from work about some kids not wanting her rice crispie treats.

Chelsea was very excited to be included in the classroom activities and several times looked at Lucia across the room and quietly said, “sit by Mal!”

  1. Tessa is beautiful!

    oh, and my comment was about the pancakes…Colin has a friend who is allergic to dairy, eggs, and nuts. his mom made pancakes the other day with a powdered egg substitute, and they were actually very good. of course they would have been even better with butter, but that kind of defeats the purpose…anyway, was just wondering if you’ve tried the powdered stuff?

  2. Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog and
